CBD: Hemp Oil vs Medical Marijuana

With so many wrong information rolling around the internet about CBD hemp oil, one of the most frequent questions users are asking is regarding the actual difference between CBD coming from hemp oil and CBD from marijuana.

Lots of potential medical marijuana clients are shocked by the number of resemblances between hemp and marijuana. This similarity comes with little surprise because both hemp and marijuana are variations of the Cannabis Sativa L. plant. As we dig much deeper into both these plants, we start to see how they can each contribute to the medical use of cannabis.

One the mistaken beliefs about CBD hemp oil products is that CBD from hemp oil is less powerful than cannabis oil or CBD oil made from medical marijuana. This results in a large number of people still searching for THC e liquid for sale.  While it holds true that the portion of CBD in hemp plants by dry weight is lower than the portion of CBD in some marijuana plants, when the oil is drawn out from the plant, the difference ends up being minimal.

Nevertheless, hemp plants grow much faster than marijuana, so while an intensively reproduced, high-CBD medical marijuana plant would take a complete season to grow, a hemp farmer can frequently plant several crops per season, developing a more eco-friendly and cost-effective product.

While scientists are studying the role of hemp as a bioaccumulator (a plant with the ability to soak up and gather impurities), we have to keep in mind that cannabis plants, consisting of medical marijuana, are proven bioaccumulators. A medical marijuana crop grown with toxic pesticides or fertilizers is more unsafe to a customer than an easily grown hemp crop, and with very little policies in numerous medical marijuana markets, there is no warranty that marijuana purchased from dispensaries is safe to use. Just recently in the US, there have been multiple warnings of marijuana crops grown with hazardous, unapproved pesticides.

The Evolution of CBD products

In the past few years, the large number of research studies proving the benefits of this compound have boosted the development of CBD products and caused them to overtake the market. CBD from hemp oil has especially witnessed a major evolution. Nowadays, hemp-cultivation technology has taken some steps towards achieving more chemically free products by incorporating state-of-the-art supercritical CO2 procedures meant to draw out possible herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers from the plant. Lab testing has also become a part of this product's quality control process throughout all phases of the production line, including the cultivation, extraction, and further processing of the oil, all of these meant to maintain the safety of the customers.

Evolution of CBD products
Yet there’s still the misconception that CBD hemp oil is made from ‘commercial hemp’ and therefore is a filthy product. Nothing can be further from reality. There is absolutely nothing filthy or impure about commercial hemp, and as discussed above, products made from hemp oil can possibly be cleaner and purer than marijuana-derived products.
On a molecular level, CBD from hemp is the exact same as CBD from marijuana. Franjo Grotenhermen of the International Association for Cannabinoid Medicines stated once "CBD is CBD. The body does not care where the particle originates from." Water makes a great example here. As far as your body is worried, an H2O particle is the same, whether it originates from a river or from your kitchen tap. Following this line of thought, 10mg of CBD from hemp oil and 10mg of CBD from medical marijuana is just the same, and similar to river and tap water, neither hemp nor marijuana are 100% safe. As we stated above, it all depends on the methods used to ensure quality and safety in the line of production.

The truth is that hemp, like marijuana, consists of quantifiable amounts of a variety of terpenes and cannabinoids, including CBD and THC. However, the levels of THC in hemp oil are low enough not to be psychedelic, so that’s why almost all forms of hemp are legal in most parts of the world, making hemp products a more feasible option for many patients.
